the soul.
the personality As it was decided for him at birth-- light and happiness are what Kaeru knows best-- for those of a weak mind, he is a passion to uphold. For those of the fragile and weary, he is the hope. Often these traits are put to the test as Kaeru faces the cruelty of the world. Trials are placed before the Frog Lord as he swore to protect those who could not protect themselves. A noble cause-- or so he’d think. Regardless of his task, there is an understanding of a perpetual balance of what is deemed “dark” and “light,” however, Kaeru urges that his presence can bring some joy to those in his company be they strangers or not.Course, when one steps into a venue full of people it makes one question why did he wish to seek such a bustling room? A heavy sweat settles… Kaeru’s nerves get the better of him. He’s shy to approach but excited and eager to interact with “mortals” as he finds them entertaining, funny, and lovable. He wants to learn about them, how they live-- an overwhelming curiosity almost childlike seems to take over-- regardless of the concerns and the eyes watching him intently. Sure, he may cower under multiple stares, the weight of them burning him to the core, but his perseverance is headstrong. Kaeru’s anxiety only gets the better of him when he’s truly alone lacking an honest companion. So he seeks others with a friendly expression hoping that they look past the spiralling horns of the onyx scale and the tainted tattoos along his arms-- he wants them to see past these dark omens and to the brilliant personality he bares.
Among these traits is his stout arm which is served with extreme fidelity to the cause, a devotion akin to a monk and religion. Kaeru is committed, and stubborn in battle seeking victory should the threat loom a dark shadow over the star. He’d fight even if death is the result. Self-sacrificing and placing others in front of himself, he will always be the rock that people need-- a crippling fault and damnation of his character-- arguably this ambition to learn mortal life and care for them immensely would be his downfall.

Ame no Murakumo
Bestowed to the frog lord after his ascending, a radiant goddess was so stricken with his kind nature and brilliant devotion that they spun a weapon from the conjuncture of the sun meeting the clouds to gift him as he transcended between the realm of heaven and star-- returning with a glaive fated to his person, the goddess bid him to ‘gather the clouds of the heavens’ so that their strength could bring justice to the land of the far east.

Silver gleams with a soft hue, the outlines of this set of earring lines with delicate gold. The accessories hanging from Kaeru’s horns are a gift crafted from his creator. A symbol of his love and care for the son he created. the small orbs that dangle give off an interesting twinkle as if something resides within-- though even Kaeru is unaware of what it hides.

The Frog Lord MUST carry a frog, right? Well, this loveable amphibian has been graced with the pleasure of being owned by Kaeru-- as he is on a task to cure the poor thing from its curse. Four summers ago, a lady known as Fate came across the creature. Out of compassion, she took it in. With a nurturing and caring hand, she became its guardian-- only to find out the frog was forced to turn into a stone statue unless the words (or sound) “ribbit” were spoken. Since taking up the quest, kaeru has kept it as a close companion.

the bottle glistens with a teal color, sparkles of white and yellow glitter through the thin liquid as it's jostled. the potion appears to be tightly sealed with a ward and on the top is the shape of a frog-- eluding only kaeru knows how to open it. this potion was concocted by an age-old master alchemist who foretold kaeru that it has a variety of effects. one should only ever use it if at the brink of the end-- when all sense of sanity is lost.

One would wonder how the Frog Lord came to grace these lands of war and bliss-- what origin did this great divine manifest from, and in what manner was placed into his creation? The common lore of the Frog Lord is not definite, plethora are tales of this entity’s creation that no one can say the truth of his birth. However, this adaption seems to be the most frequented and published in many Far Eastern studies with scholars of eld, foretelling the particular take to be convincingly true.Long ago, in a land where there seemed to lack a distinct hope, with the mortal plane tempted by war and famine, a lone ray of the sun bore down upon the ponds of Mt. Aozang. The mountain, already blessed as a place for the Kami, had various wildlife there-- the prominent one being the frog. Good companions meant to bring forth happiness, the lone ray of the sun looked upon the torn and broken land and decided to spread happiness that the Kami sought to conceal upon the mountain. The frogs were chosen by their size and success, though ultimately, in the end, a small froglet was destined. With a burst of the ray’s magic, the unlikely candidate flourished, and with it, the land of Mount Aozang shifted, becoming a land of growth and ethereal beauty.
The Frog Lord in his early stages of life would gratefully take from the land, growing, until aged to a time he could wander. Thus started his journey and the multiple mythological tales linked to him.Many stories of a frog standing on two legs and wandering the land for lost souls have been written from accounts of various individuals-- all of which claim they had the blessing of fortune and fertility. Wherever the Frog Lord stepped was a time of joy and profit and it showed as the land, much like Mount Aozang, grew and developed.As a symbol of change, a symbol of a guide to return to one’s home, and a symbol of patience the Frog Lord had made his presence known for several centuries, blessing those who crossed his path and the material plane. Omiyage was crafted in his image, poetry written for his divine acts, and paintings to encapsulate the fairytales that are often told to children to this day.Though the Frog Lord’s ethereal touch has long since faded from the lands of the Far East, it is spoken that his ancient blessings still hold strong for Othard and Hingahsi alike. Accounts of a Standing Frog offering to lead someone home or even giving a fortune to those in need have been rumored to be spotted across the lands, however, these are simply untrue as the Frog Lord-- through the tale of the Lunar Phases-- has left to join the Kami, after Hydaelyn’s first lunar eclipse.

hingashi || Mount Rokkon often referred to as "his place of vigil," Mount Rokkon is the residence of the Frog Lord. Typically, this is where he resides for rest and healing-- should one truly seek him out. yanxia || The Plum Springs Another favored spot for Kaeru as it is a place of solace and beauty. He graces these lands often with friends but would come to sleep under the sakura trees and to sing. should you wish to hear his song-- this is where it would be. the ruby sea || ten-thousand-year-pine Kaeru's favorite perch. Though the extremely tall pine symbolizes one of his greatest acts in history, Kaeru often likes to sit on its branches to watch over the Far East. sybaris an unlikely place for any deity to visit, sybaris is a bordello that Kaeru can often be seen at for the association of his brother and friends working there. He does not part take in the activities but often takes the time to lounge and observe the interesting life of mortals that walk in-- and hopefully-- offer them a time of reprieve and company.
darkness
within every auspice close to Kaeru is a darkness that festers under the skin. The name for this disease is unknown to any mortal.There are times when Kaeru will mention that darkness will reside in his heart-- or show his hands and reference his horns as a stain of this affliction. it's been embedded since the day he was created that is a cancer that should be watched and maintained. Though the darkness for any of the Lords is different and unpredictable, his has seen several developments and has gotten to the point where kaeru can negate it. However, it is far from controlled.

the attributes of the Frog Lord go beyond appearances and reside within his biology.Kaeru, born as a froglet, has the ability to mimic EVERY frog's croak, ribbit, and noise in existence. He can squeak, meep, and vocalize convincing noises that can attract other frogs to him as a way to keep himself company. Alongside this, Kaeru can sing in a loving series he likes to deem "frog songs" which is the choir of different pitched ribbits that resonate a tone for which he later creates lyrics. Particularly favoring the harp, Kaeru will play these tunes on his perch at Mount Rokkon for those in distress to hear.
lunar eclipse
the moment that the moon was swallowed by earth's shadow-- when the sun bore too much light-- this was the time of ascension.kaeru has undergone a process known as Ascension. Essentially. when the fibers of his being were spread thin to the very basics of his aether and the kami bore down before him-- judging him through a process that only the Court would know. By this, Kareru was granted a blessing and thus has permission to ascend to the heavens should he need to at any given moment, be it as a representative of a Martial God or to support his master in the courts.

interesting things come about when the moon lands on the first and last quarter, even more so when it's full in its shine.the phases of the moon depict a multiple of versatile means be it through harvest or the ocean, however, to kaeru, the moon symbolizes the looming threat of his darkness. Through the first and last quarter, an unspeakable affliction befalls Kaeru, considerably unpredictable in nature. Like a roulette, Kaeru suffers from either falling completely silent for an entire day, seeing darkness rise to the surface before his eyes, or simply being left at peace-- SOMETHING must happen. Though the worst of it occurs during the FULL moon...

one would think that kaeru being the youngest of the protectors would make him incompetent to conquer over their years of experience and hard-earned teachings.although he is an unlikely candidate to achieve this goal. his master, Huo Sheng, puts grand amounts of faith into kaeru as being one of the only auspices to protect and preserve the family that had been made. Kaeru takes the mantle and weight of these expectations seriously making it his life's goal to see that they are returned to their former glory. in through this, Kaeru hopes that these hard decisions will yield a time when they are all together again, happy and whole. little does kaeru know, such a thing is a far-reaching dream.

while kaeru has the features of any typical male au ra-- there is a distinctive feature that places him opposite of the 'regular' appearance.commonly referred to as the twin horns upon kaeru's crown, these sharp extras are indicators of Kaeru's mood-- when they're glowing it can signify an immense portrayal of positive emotions, if they dim or darken then kaeru's not in the greatest of moods, bordering on negative or LYING.the horns depict his aether pertaining to how much light he has, which is generally bright, resembling the sun. though when the horns are dimmed, strangely enough his aether shifts tones, it's not radiant like the sun but rather shines like moonlight.

There are a plethora of different tales that hale from the Far East. One such instance is the myths of the Lords and their auspicious behavior. Their appearances are often defined as specific and distinctive to the point that close replications can be made in artworks. Should there be immense knowledge of the Far Eastern myths or a passion for ancient arts, Kaeru would look suspiciously familiar and arguably a close “relative” of the Frog Lord associated with the other Kami.

Through this, he presents himself as a scholar of eld, offering poems, proverbs, prophecy, and more to the people so that they can learn. Additionally. Ryomen is, by all respects, Kaeru's closest sibling and through their trials in their older years Kaeru has come to swear his fidelity to preserving what little light remains in Ryomen. As it was bade for him by their Master and by compassion, Kaeru will take the mantle and do what he can to ease the wolf's mind-- regardless of the arguments they had concurred recently.

Skeptical. Uncertain. Chihiro is a sly fox with schemes under their sleeves and a long snoot that shoves it in places it shouldn’t be. Kaeru, through better judgment or not, does hope that the fox strays from the mythical tale of manipulative behavior placed on their head.
